An open letter to tumblr user foxhoundmgs
As someone who is clearly a huge MGS fan, it seems you’ve forgotten one of the major themes of the series. The idea of forging one’s own destiny, regardless of the odds. Of making something new, and good, without causing harm to others. Above all else, of being a decent human being, willing to correct one’s own mistakes and having a sense of honour about how you conduct yourself.
Therefore, as one MGS fan to another, I ask you to do what is right.
Remove all stolen content from both your tumblr and facebook, immediately.
All the content featured, which you are using for advertisement purposes for your facebook, have been created by others, and you do not have permission to repost the content. As such, you are in violation of international copyright law. If you do not cease, then you run the risk of facing legal action, fines, damage payments and even potentially jail time.
Have some respect for the original content creators, who have put their heart and soul into making much of the art and other content you have clearly, and please do not attempt to deny this, stolen without even crediting the original content creator.
It is highly likely that you will see this, and either steal the image (in which case Irony is not a concept you understand, sir) or ignore it entirely. If so, I will personally begin a campaign to have the stolen content removed from Tumblr at the very least. As someone who is very much aware of the legal workings of copyright and court proceedings, I can tell you right now that if this happens to reach any court you would have no case to stand on.
Ground Zeroes is releasing soon. Perhaps, as a sign of good faith, you could remove all stolen content from all your pages before its release and issue a public apology. If you then proceed to make your own content, I’m sure many in this fandom will gladly support you.
I hope you read this. I hope you do the right thing.
